BOOK A COLLIERY TOUR

Go back in time at Snibston Mine

What we do...

Experience a day in the life of a coal miner with a guided tour of the historic Snibston Mine and ‘Into the Dark’ mine simulation, led by experienced former miners.

Sharing the heritage of rare colliery buildings and machinery

Agricultural land for centuries, it was George Stephenson, ‘Father of Railways’, who saw Snibston’s potential. Primarily here to build a railway, he snapped up Snibston estate when valuable coal reserves were uncovered.

Today, Snibston Heritage Trust works in harmony with other heritage organisations and alongside Leicestershire County Council, to protect, preserve and promote industrial and mining heritage including Snibston Colliery.
